"Alfred Manessier , Peindre la lumière " is the fourth opus in the Toiles Musicales series , a concept linking music and painting. The show sheds light on the work of the famous French painter, a major figure of the New School of Paris , by the pianist Bertrand Coynault.

This piano recital augmented by a video part allows the viewer to immerse themselves in the heart of the master's paintings and reveal their unsuspected details. Camera movements are defined from the score and respond to rhythms and harmonies.

The associations brought together thanks to the collaborations of partner museums and private funds , chosen in concert with Christine Manessier - daughter of the painter - make it possible to discover the evolution of the representation of light from early works in the Bay of Somme towards abstraction, through spirituality and a Spanish stopover.

A dialogue is established between the canvases and the pages of Debussy ; then Chopin's Nocturnes echo the monumental series of Towers , true sublimated visions of the night. The second part is devoted to the mysticism of the spiritual Canticles of Saint John of the Cross, ending in the warm lights of the Spanish period .
